Mother (أم)

We all know that there is nothing equivalent of the love of a mother. We also know how much mothers do for their children and how selfless mothers are.

In this modern Arabic calligraphy design, the slightly-bending vertical stroke (a stylized letter A in Arabic) represents a standing mother, while the rest represents a child hanging on her knees. The child’s body is portrayed by a round head and a connected stroke that decreases in thickness (the letter M in Arabic). The idea is depicted very efficiently and has been understood and appreciated by viewers who do not know Arabic.

كم هو قويّ حبّ الأمّ لأطفالها. كم هو قويّ حنان الأمّ على أطفالها.

في هذا التّصميم أستخدم الخطّ العربي الحديث ليعطي إيحاء بمعنى كلمة أم.

تمّ ذلك عن طريق تحوير حرف الألف وامالته لكي يمثّل شكل أمّ واقفة، ثمّ تحوير حرف الميم ليدلّ على طفل ممسك برجل أو ركبة أمّه.

في الحقيقة كثير من النّاس الذّين لا يعرفون العربيّة استطاعوا إدراك المعنى المقصود بلا عناء.

يلاحط أن عمليّة التصميم تمّت بطريقة طبيعيّة دون الإجحاف بالشّكل العام لكلّ حرف.
