| This is the story of Alia Muhammad Baker, chief librarian of Basra's Central Library, and her determined efforts to save the library's collection before Basra was bombed on April 6, 2003. Baker managed to save 70 percent of the collection before the library was bombed. The story is based on the report by New York Times writer Shaila K. Dewan. A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to a fund administered by the American Library Association to help rebuild the book collection of Basra's Central Library. All ages. |
